The world-renowned cardiologist presented a unique clinical case

A clinical case presented by Prof. Dr. Ivo Petrov, MD, National Consultant in Invasive Cardiology and Medical Director at Acibadem City Clinic Cardiovascular Center, was awarded with the first prize at the 10th edition of the Annual Asia-Pacific Endovascular Conference in New Delhi.

Prof. Petrov participated for the 4th time at the prestigious international congress. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Endovascular Specialists. Bulgaria is one of the leading countries in Europe in the field of endovascular therapy, and is among the Top 10 countries as a stage of application of modern methodologies. That is why Bulgarian cardiologists are often invited to international symposia, conferences and congresses to share their experience.

“We are one of the nations called to change the world,” the Bulgarian cardiologist is convinced.

As a great surprise to Professor Petrov himself, one of the five clinical cases he presented was selected as the best presentation at the conference, among 30 others.

"These are the first two cases, in the world, of endovascular treatment when aortic dissection is used in young people and children. Over the past two years, we have studied both patients. It was shown this type of treatment is not only effective at the moment, but it is also long-lasting. This very subject was one of the main questions tackled when two years ago, along with colleagues from the National Cardiology Hospital, we were introduced to these cases. Is this type of treatment of such children going to last for a long time, or with their growth, implants will become relatively small? It turned out the results of treatment were lasting. "

The clinical paper presented by the Bulgarian leading specialist is of great interest among the participants at the conference in New Delhi. Therefore, in 2019, Prof. Petrov was invited to a Bulgarian session with a group of physicians from various specialties: vascular surgeons, angiologists and cardiologists, to present the Bulgarian achievements in the field of endovascular therapy in our country.
